Seasonal Fun and Exciting Events in and Around Ballan, Victoria
If you're looking for a fun and exciting place to spend your season in Victoria, why not check out the town of Ballan? Located in the south-central part of the state, this charming town is home to a number of fantastic events and attractions that will make your stay unforgettable. Here are just a few of the activities and events that should be on your must-see list while you're in town:
Summer Activities:
- Ballan Farmers Market: This weekly market is the perfect place to find fresh, locally-grown produce, handmade crafts, and other treats from the region. Held every Sunday from 9am-1pm at the Memorial Park in Inglis St.
- Ballan Public Pool: When the summer heat gets too intense, head to the public pool for a refreshing swim. Open daily from 12-6pm.
- Pyrenees Winery Tours: The picturesque Ballan area is home to a number of fantastic wineries, and many offer guided tours and tastings throughout the summer.
Autumn Activities:
- Ballan Autumn Festival: This annual celebration of the changing seasons features live music, games, food stalls, and more. Held on the second Saturday in March at the Memorial Park in Inglis St.
- Ballan Vintage Swap Meet: This event is a must-visit for vintage lovers and collectors. Held on the last Sunday of February each year at the Ballan Racecourse.
- The Dahliettas at Peonies in Ballan: Held on the first Sunday in March, this show features a stunning array of dahlias and peonies in bloom. Visitors can tour the gardens, meet the growers, and purchase plants and bouquets.
Winter Activities:
- Ballan Winter Festival: This cosy winter festival features an ice skating rink, food and drink stalls, live music, and all sorts of winter-themed fun. Held on the first Saturday in August in the Ballan Mechanics Institute.
- Chocolate Making Workshops: Learn how to make your own chocolate treats from a local expert. Workshops run throughout the winter months.
Spring Activities:
- Ballan District Health and Care Mini Market Day: Held in early September, this event features a range of handmade crafts, local produce, and wellness products. Visitors can also enjoy a range of health and wellness workshops and demonstrations.
- Rainbow Serpent Festival: One of the biggest events of the year in the Ballan area, the Rainbow Serpent Festival draws thousands of music and art lovers from around the world. Held over the Australia Day long weekend in late January.
- Trentham Farmers Market: While not in Ballan itself the Trentham Farmers Market is an incredible local artisan, produce and farmers market held on the third Saturday of each month and is just a short drive from Ballan.
